FoodMate Score of the food
This is a score for the food on its own, by its composition per 100 g, using the same formula the app applies to a meal. On a plate with other foods the result will differ: buckwheat with vegetables scores higher than buckwheat alone.

Calories in dry and cooked pasta
Dry durum wheat pasta has about 350 kcal per 100 g: 12 g of protein, 1.5 g of fat and 70 g of carbs. When cooked, it absorbs water and gets about 2.5 times heavier, so 100 g of cooked pasta has about 140 kcal. Old tables list 112 kcal: that is well-cooked soft wheat pasta, which absorbs more water. If you weigh it dry, use the number on the pack, if cooked, use 140.
A serving and a plate of pasta
A 150 g side is 210 kcal and takes about 60 g of dry pasta. A full 250 g plate comes to 350 kcal. The shape does not change the calories: spaghetti, elbows, penne and fusilli made from the same flour weigh and count the same. Whole grain pasta is different: almost the same calories, but two to three times more fiber, and the fullness lasts longer.
Pasta with butter, cheese and minced meat
Pasta itself is not as caloric as what goes with it. A 10 g piece of butter adds 75 kcal, 30 g of grated cheese adds 108, and a 150 g serving becomes 285-318 kcal. Navy-style pasta with minced meat comes to about 190 kcal per 100 g, carbonara with cream and bacon to over 200. Tomato sauce without cream adds only 20-40 kcal per serving.
Pasta for weight loss
Durum pasta cooked al dente is digested more slowly than overcooked pasta and keeps hunger away longer. A 150 g serving fits a deficit if there is protein and vegetables next to it: chicken, fish, tuna, salad. The trouble is volume: pasta is easy to eat by the 250-300 g plate, so it is handier to measure dry pasta in advance, 60 g per person.
How to count your serving
Weigh the dry pasta and multiply by 3.5 or the cooked pasta by 1.4, then add butter, cheese and sauce separately. If the pasta is already on a plate with sauce, take a photo in MyFoodMate AI: the app counts the calories of the whole dish.
