FoodMate Score of the food
This is a score for the food on its own, by its composition per 100 g, using the same formula the app applies to a meal. On a plate with other foods the result will differ: buckwheat with vegetables scores higher than buckwheat alone.

How many calories are in a cucumber
Cucumber is one of the lightest foods: 15 kcal per 100 g, 0.8 g of protein and 2.8 g of carbs. A medium field cucumber weighs 100-130 g and gives 18 kcal, a long 300 g greenhouse cucumber gives 45 kcal. Even a kilogram of cucumbers is only 150 kcal. So cucumbers hardly need counting: on a plate with them the calories almost always come from the dressing.
Cucumber and tomato salad
A 200 g serving of cucumber and tomato salad without dressing is only about 34 kcal. A tablespoon of sunflower or olive oil (15 g) adds about 135 kcal, bringing it to 169. Two spoons of 15% sour cream add 79 kcal, a spoon of mayonnaise adds 100. So the dressing weighs over ten times less than the vegetables but gives four times more calories. Measure the oil with a spoon instead of pouring from the bottle.
Salted and marinated cucumbers
A salt-pickled cucumber is almost the same in calories as a fresh one: about 13 kcal per 100 g. Marinated ones can be slightly higher, 16-20 kcal, if the marinade contains sugar. What matters in them is not calories but salt: one large pickle can give up to a third of the daily sodium. Salt makes the body hold water, and the next day the scale may show an extra half kilogram. That is not fat, and it goes away in a day or two.
Cucumbers for weight loss
Cucumbers give volume with almost no calories, so they are handy for filling the plate in a deficit: half a plate of cucumbers and greens, with protein and a side next to them. Cucumbers are not rich in vitamins, but they have vitamin K and potassium. Cucumber-only fasting days make no sense: cucumbers give neither protein nor fat, and what you lose is mostly water.
How to count your serving
Log cucumbers at 18 kcal each, and weigh or measure the oil, sour cream or mayonnaise in the dressing with a spoon. If the salad is already made, take a photo in MyFoodMate AI: the app estimates both the vegetables and the dressing.
