FoodMate Score of the food
This is a score for the food on its own, by its composition per 100 g, using the same formula the app applies to a meal. On a plate with other foods the result will differ: buckwheat with vegetables scores higher than buckwheat alone.

How many calories are in beef liver
Raw beef liver has 127 kcal per 100 g: 17.9 g of protein, 3.7 g of fat and about 5 g of carbs as glycogen. A 150 g serving is 191 kcal and 27 g of protein. It is lighter than most cuts of beef, and no meat compares to it in vitamins. Calf liver is more tender and about the same in calories.
Fried, braised and boiled
Liver fried with onion in oil comes to about 200 kcal per 100 g, more if dredged in flour. Liver stroganoff braised in sour cream is about 190. Boiled liver is about 175 kcal: it loses water. Beef liver pâté with butter is 250-300 kcal per 100 g. The lightest option is to braise liver with onion and carrot in water, adding a spoon of sour cream at the end.
How much liver to eat
150 g of beef liver contains over eight days of vitamin A, dozens of days of B12 and about 15 days of copper. Vitamin A in this form accumulates, so liver is best eaten no more than once a week in a small 100-150 g serving. Pregnant women and children should discuss liver with a doctor.
Liver for weight loss
Beef liver is an inexpensive, moderate-calorie source of protein and iron. In a deficit it is better braised than fried and eaten with buckwheat or vegetables. Mashed potatoes with butter, as on the classic liver and onions plate, add another 150-200 kcal.
How to count your serving
Weigh the raw liver and multiply by 1.27, counting oil, flour and sour cream separately. If the liver is already on a plate with a side, take a photo in MyFoodMate AI and the app counts everything together.
