FoodMate Score of the food
This is a score for the food on its own, by its composition per 100 g, using the same formula the app applies to a meal. On a plate with other foods the result will differ: buckwheat with vegetables scores higher than buckwheat alone.

How many calories are in grapefruit
Grapefruit has 35 kcal per 100 g of flesh: about 6.5 g of carbs, almost 2 g of fiber and very little protein or fat. A medium grapefruit weighs 400-450 g with the peel and holds about 300 g of flesh, that is 105 kcal. Half, eaten with a spoon, gives about 53 kcal, one segment 7. Red and white grapefruit are almost the same in calories.
Does grapefruit burn fat
No. The idea of fat-burning grapefruit comes from the old grapefruit diet, where it simply replaced higher-calorie food. It contains no special substance that dissolves fat. Its value is elsewhere: half a grapefruit before a meal is volume and sour taste for 53 kcal, and many people eat less afterwards.
Grapefruit and medicines
Grapefruit and its juice block a liver enzyme that breaks down many medicines: some statins, blood pressure drugs, antiarrhythmics and others. As a result, a drug can build up in the blood to a dangerous level. If you take medication regularly, ask your doctor or check the leaflet before eating grapefruit.
Grapefruit juice
A glass of juice is about 76 kcal, the juice of a whole grapefruit but without the fiber. The bitterness comes from naringin and the membranes between segments, so peeled segments without membranes taste milder. Sprinkling sugar on half a grapefruit is a common habit: a teaspoon adds 28 kcal.
How to count your serving
Count half a grapefruit as 53 kcal, or weigh the peeled segments and multiply by 0.35. If the grapefruit is in a salad, take a photo in MyFoodMate AI and the app counts everything together.
