FoodMate Score of the food
This is a score for the food on its own, by its composition per 100 g, using the same formula the app applies to a meal. On a plate with other foods the result will differ: buckwheat with vegetables scores higher than buckwheat alone.

How many calories are in one pear
A pear has 47 kcal per 100 g: about 10 g of carbs, almost 3 g of fiber and next to no fat or protein. A medium pear weighs 150-190 g, 170 g on average, and gives 80 kcal. A small 120 g pear is 56 kcal, a large 230 g one 108. The core weighs 10-15 g, so you can count the whole pear.
Pear varieties
Conference, Williams, Abate and Duchess pears differ by 5-10 kcal per 100 g. Sweeter, juicier varieties seem higher in calories, but they have only slightly more sugar. Size matters more: a large pear can weigh as much as two small ones. For precision, weigh the pear and multiply by 0.47.
Baked and dried pear
A baked pear keeps the calories of a fresh one, about 80 kcal each, and with a spoon of honey it is 112. Dried pear is denser: about 262 kcal per 100 g, and a 30 g handful is 79 kcal, like a whole fresh pear. Canned pears in syrup are 60-80 kcal per 100 g because of the sugar in the syrup.
Pears for weight loss
Pears are among the highest-fiber fruits: a medium one has about 5 g, a fifth of the daily need. So they are more filling than they seem and make a good 80 kcal snack. Most of the fiber is in the skin, so it is better not to peel them. For some people, several pears at once cause bloating because of fructose and sorbitol.
How to count your serving
Weigh the pear and multiply by 0.47, or log a medium one as 80 kcal. If the pear is in a salad, dessert or on oatmeal, take a photo in MyFoodMate AI and the app counts everything together.
