How many calories are in golubtsy
100 g of meat and rice golubtsy contain about 120 kcal: 6.8 g of protein, 7.4 g of fat and 6.9 g of carbs. One roll weighs about 125 g and gives 150 kcal, and a standard serving of two is 300 kcal. That is less than patties with a side dish of the same weight, because cabbage takes up much of the volume.
What affects the calories
The main calorie source is the mince: pork and beef is fattier than beef or chicken, a difference of up to 55 kcal per serving. The second is the sauce: sour cream and vegetables fried in oil make it much richer than plain tomato. Rice barely affects the total but helps keep the filling juicy.
Golubtsy vs lazy golubtsy
Lazy golubtsy are mince, rice and chopped cabbage baked or braised without wrapping in leaves. Calorie-wise they are almost the same as classic rolls if the proportions match. Sometimes lazy versions use less cabbage and more rice, which makes them richer. Lenten golubtsy with mushrooms are the lightest, but they have a third of the protein.
Golubtsy on a diet
Golubtsy fit a calorie deficit well: a 250 g serving is filling, with protein, vegetables and fiber and moderate fat. To lighten them, mix beef mince with turkey, braise the rolls in tomato sauce and add sour cream by the spoonful on the plate. They don't need a side dish - it is a complete meal.
How to count your golubtsy
Golubtsy can be palm-sized or fist-sized, and the sauce on the plate can be a spoon or a ladle. So 120 kcal per 100 g is a guide. Take a photo of your plate in MyFoodMate AI and the app accounts for both the rolls and the sauce with sour cream.
