How many calories are in okroshka
100 g of okroshka on kvass with boiled sausage contain about 62 kcal: 2.6 g of protein, 3 g of fat and 6.2 g of carbs. A 350 g bowl is 217 kcal, making it one of the lightest soups. For comparison, the same bowl of borscht with sour cream is about 320 kcal, and solyanka is even more.
Kvass or kefir
Kvass gives okroshka its sweet-and-sour taste and some sugar: about 5 g per 100 ml. 1% kefir has almost the same calories but brings protein and calcium with hardly any added sugar. Okroshka on ayran or tan is close to the kefir version. If you watch sugar, kefir is usually the better choice.
Sausage, chicken or beef
Boiled sausage is the most caloric and saltiest part of okroshka: 35 g give 90 kcal and a lot of sodium. Boiled chicken breast or lean beef cut about 40 kcal per bowl and make the profile cleaner. Many cooks mix sausage with meat as a compromise between the familiar taste and better nutrition.
Okroshka for weight loss
Okroshka works well in a calorie deficit: a big volume, lots of water and vegetables with moderate energy. To stay full longer, add more egg and meat and less potato. Add sour cream by the spoon into your bowl rather than into the pot - it's easier to control the amount.
How to count your okroshka
Everyone uses a different ratio of liquid to chopped ingredients: a thick okroshka can have almost twice the calories of a thin one. So 62 kcal per 100 g is an average. Take a photo of your bowl in MyFoodMate AI and the app will estimate how much filling, liquid and sour cream it contains.
