How the diary works

Updated October 2, 2026

The diary is a feed of your meals for the day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Each entry stores the dish's ingredients, grams, nutrition and FoodMate Score, and if the entry came from a photo, the photo itself.

What the day screen shows

At the top is the day's total: how many calories, protein, fat and carbs you have had so far and how much is left of your target. Below are the meals in order. The arrows take you to the previous or next day.

If a meal is still empty, it shows a "Find an idea for ~N kcal" button that suggests dishes for what is left of the day. How it works is covered in How the meal picker works.

How to add an entry

Tap "Add a meal" and choose where the dish comes from:

  • take a photo or pick from gallery;
  • describe it, by text or voice;
  • from favorites;
  • enter manually, which is also where "My dishes" lives: what you have logged before, with your last portion.

Or simply send a photo or a description to the chat with the bot, and the entry appears in your diary by itself. The meal is chosen by the time of day, and you can change it.

How to edit or delete an entry

Tap an entry to open it. There you can rename the dish, correct the grams and ingredients, refine it in words or add it to favorites. More on editing in Editing portion weights.

You can delete the entry there too. If you tapped by mistake, you can bring it back within a few seconds.

Moving or copying to another mealIn the Telegram app you can move or copy an entry to another meal, for example if a snack was really lunch. MAX does not have this yet: there it is easier to delete the entry and add it again from "My dishes".
The week matters more than a dayA single day of overeating barely changes the picture for the week. That is why the "Progress" section focuses on averages rather than rating each day.
