How the meal picker works

Updated October 2, 2026

Sometimes you have 500 kcal left for the day and no idea what to cook. The picker suggests three meal ideas that fit what is left of your target, with ingredients and nutrition, so you do not have to dig through recipes yourself.

Where to find it

Open your diary. A meal that has no entries yet shows a "Find an idea for ~N kcal" button: it already holds a sensible amount for that meal, based on what is left of your day.

What you can set

  • The meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack.
  • Calories. The app fills in what is left of your daily target and suggests a comfortable range. You can nudge the number with "Fewer calories" and "More calories".
  • Exclude foods. Type what you do not want: "mushrooms", "fish", "dairy".
  • What you feel like: something hot, quick (under 20 minutes), from what I have at home, high protein. You can pick several.

What it considers besides calories

  • What you are short of today. If by evening you are short on protein or fibre, the picker tells you and suggests dishes that fill the gap.
  • Your "About me" answers. Dietary restrictions and specifics you entered in Profile → About me: vegetarian, halal, allergies, "I don't like mushrooms". More in Dietary restrictions.

What to do with the ideas

Each idea shows calories, protein, fat, carbs and fibre. Then:

  • "To diary" if that is what you cooked;
  • "To favorites" to come back to the idea later;
  • "Find more" if none of them appeal.

If nothing matches your conditions, try moving the calories or removing one of the exclusions.

How many ideas you can requestThe picker is available during the free trial days and with a Pro subscription. New requests become available at midnight your time.

It has a daily limit, shown on the Pricing page.

These are ideas, not prescriptionsThe picker suggests dishes, not a therapeutic diet. If you have allergies, check the ingredients before cooking.
